Vadiation process: is it possible to edit one record with data from another?

Hi there,

I have been using a Fulcrum app to collect field data associated with groundwater quality samples.
The app has a validation procedure at the end of which, if a record is validated, it is transferred to the database.

Generally in a day, a sampler may collect up to 5 samples. At present, the form is design to request, at each site, the field equipment make that was used (category list). There could be up to seven field equipment make to record at each site. This means that this information is repeated at every site, given that it is unlikely that a sampler will change its gear from one site to the next. Equipment set will vary between sampling organisation though.
I was wondering whether it is possible to copy across this information from one record to another, during the validation stage, using the table view. This would allow to sort sample associated with the same sampler/organisation and copy the field meter info. Eventually this is mean for the sampler that duplicated data entry is minimized, provided he/she answer the question: do you want to re-use the field meter from last site?

Can this be done within the Fulcrum app validation interface?

    Hello Magali,

There are two options that you can use.

One is to enable default to previous value for the fields that you wish to maintain the previously recorded values for. This option is found in the field settings pop up in the app designer page for your app. The mobile apps have the option to clear the stored values in the settings page.

Another option is to use the duplicate record option found in the list view ( Android, iOS ) of the mobile apps. You can either long press (Android) or swipe left (iOS) to reveal the record options on the list view pages, then tap 'more' you will then get the option to duplicate the record. Both records and child records (from repeatable sections) can be duplicated from their respective record list pages.
